Butterfly, Butterfly

We are learning about prepositions or words that tell us where things are or where they are going.

Our Poem this week is about a butterfly. Koka Jodie wrote this poem for Ngā Ngaru. It includes some of this language to describe how the butterfly moves.

Click here to read the poem. How many prepositions can you find in the poem?

We made our own butterflies to illustrate our poem books. Check out a few of us with our mahi below.

We are on track!

Last Friday, Wai Syndicate headed down to the cross country track. We are getting pretty good at walking in our lines and got there in no time! Down the road and over the bridge all the way to the reserve opposite the Okitu Store. Once we were there, the kids from Ngā Ngaru got to have a go at jogging around the track. Everyone got round with smiles on their faces and we are looking like we are well on track to having fun on cross country day. Check out our photos...I tried really hard to get a photo of everyone, but some kids were just TOO FAST!

If you would like to check out the track and maybe get a little bit of extra training in, get your child to show you where the track starts and where it goes.

And after all that walking and running we were still smiling!

Off back to school! Go Ngā Ngaru!

Relays to start the Day

We have fun most mornings as we start our day with some Relay and Tabloid activities.
We have been learning to: take turns, be part of a team, listen to instructions and cheer our team mates on. We have also been practising our skipping, jumping, balancing, throwing and catching.
We have been getting fitter and fitter and quicker and quicker everyday. It is such a great way to start the day. Check out some videos and photos of Nga Ngaru in action.

Our Alphabet Slide Book

During the Covid Lockdown , Nga Ngaru Tamariki and their families did some awesome Home Learning. One of our tasks was to adopt a letter from the alphabet and make a slide page about it. They did a great job. We finished it off at school this week. We think it looks amazing. Check it out.

Our Learning at Home Slideshow Book- Week 1 & 2

Nga Ngaru have been working so hard to do lots of fun activities in their home learning bubbles.
We have loved hearing about what you have been doing.
This is a good book for you to come back and read everyday because it is full of your sight words and it is a great way to practise them.
