Tena Koe - Hello to One

Here we are at assembly singing our greetings song. Koka Terri has been teaching the school some Te Reo during our school assembly. This part of assembly is called "It's cool to korero."
We are learning that if we want to say hello to one person we say Tena Koe. If we are saying hello to to 2 people we would say Tena Korua. If we are saying hello to lots of people we say Tena koutou.
We also learned that Ata marie means good morning and Ka kite means goodbye. Tu Meke means too much! Room 9 practised this and we shared our learning back with the whole school the next week.  Look how proud we are to get up on stage by ourselves and sing our waiata.
Tu meke Room 9.

We won the It's cool to korero class prize for the week - Tu meke Tiki. We got to keep him in the class for the whole week.

Greedy Cat

Greedy Cat by Joy Cowley is one of our favourite shared book stories. We made our own Greedy Cats and thought about the kinds of foods we thought he might like to steal. We all love our Greedy Cats.

Here we are making our Greedy Cats

Oh the Places You'll Go

We listened to Dr Seuss's story Oh the Places You'll Go. We made our own hot air balloon art that shows the beginning of our school journey at Wainui Beach School. Look closely at the pictures to see us waving in our hot air balloons.
