Our End of Term School Technology Challenge

In the last week of Term One, our school ran a technology challenge morning. We teamed up with our buddy class Room 4. We were split into groups of 3. Big kids buddied with the little kids.

The scenario :
We have flown to London to meet the Queen. Unfortunately our luggage has gone missing during the trip. The challenge is to design an outfit using toilet paper, masking tape and crepe paper.

Each group was given 2 rolls of toilet paper, 1 roll of masking tape and 2 strips of crepe paper to add colour and decoration. The children were given about 45 minutes to create their outfit on a model from their group.

The whole school met in the hall and the best designs were chosen to model down the catwalk.
There were awards given to the best group for teamwork and participation and the best design from each class.  Then there were also awards for the best overall as judged by the teachers. There was also an award chosen by the children. This was decided by the amount of applause as each design was paraded. It was a super fun morning, with some amazing outfits created!

Leo the Lion who Wanted to Love

We are learning about the letter and sound Ll. We read the story, Leo the Lion who Wanted to Love.
We created our own Leo the Lion art using crayon, dye and paint. We wrote stories about our lions. Mrs Broad typed our stories up so we had a correct model to publish accurately from in our neatest handwriting. We shared our work with the school when it was our turn to host assembly. Here they are hanging up in Room 9.

Sound and Word Work

We learn about and practise writing a new sound most days. We watch You Tube clips that show us sounds using song. We use our mini whiteboards to practise forming the letters correctly.
We write on the concrete with our jumbo chalks. Sometimes we practise down on the beach.

We sounded out words that started with Ff on our whiteboards.

We can make words using the magnetic letters.
