Wai Duathlon 10th March 2016

Last Thursday, Wai syndicate had their Duathlon. Our tamariki did a Run, Swim, Run course around our school. We had a great day. The best part was having a nice cool ice block under the trees after we had finished. Congratulations to our place getters, and all our children who tried their best and never gave up. I was also so super proud of our new entrants. No one was shy and everyone participated with a beaming smile on their faces. Ka Pai Room 9.

Here we are lined up in our year levels waiting for our race.

Check out all those happy faces!
Here come the boys, ready to line up.

Maths Time in Room 9

We are learning about numbers to 20 and beyond. We are learning to read them, write them and say the numbers that come before and after them. We are learning how to manage and complete independent activities and games while Mrs Broad works with a small group.

Harry works hard to complete this puzzle.

We are counting and sorting the dinosaurs.

Noa orders tand sorts the teddy bears.

Kobi threads and weaves the cord through to make the numbers.

Jaxon and Reef take turns to roll the dice to make the penguin.
The first one to finish their penguin is the winner.

Taimana and Mahanga play Snakes and Ladders.

Dragons!

Mrs Saunders taught us last week for a day. We learnt about the letter sound Dd.
We listened to a story and then drew our own dragons. We wrote a sentence to describe our dragons.

Buddy Reading with Room 4

The Tuakana-teina relationship is an integral part of the culture of Wainui Beach School. It is based on traditional Maori society, where an older or more expert tuakana ( brother, sister or cousin) helps and guides a younger or less expert teina.
This year at WBS our new entrants are teamed up with Yr3 and 4 students from Room 4. Mr Shand is our Buddy Teacher. Each Friday afternoon, our classes join together. The older students
( tuakana) mentor and work with their younger buddies ( teina). It is a time of the week we all look forward to, as it is heaps of fun, and a great way to end our week.
