On Wednesday Room 8 spent a wonderful morning up at the Playcentre. We started our visit with a mat time taken by Alice's mum Sarah. Room 8 sang a song and then we had some morning tea.
They shared some yummy morning tea and popcorn with us. After our kai, we  raced off to play.

The Green Factor Environment Show

Last week we were lucky to have this amazing show visit our school. The Gisborne District in conjunction with the Environmental Centre organise one of these shows. They tour all the local primary schools to promote the Rethink, Reuse, Recycle message. It was a very funny show with a great message.

Room 8 Leads Assembly

It was our turn to host the school assembly. Quincee and Ivy did a great job as the MC's on the microphone. Room 8 shared their Mondrian Art with the school. Mrs Broad and Mrs Arthur were super proud of their tamariki. Many thanks to Silke for the fantastic photos.

Ms McVey and the Recorder group play as the school walks in.

Room 8 wait patiently on the stage as the school arrives in the hall.

Ella and Te Atawhai are great role models as they wait quietly.

Great job Room 8!!

We won Litter Free Larry this week.
Momo collects him on behalf of Room 8.

It was the very first week of school for Mahanga, Amber, Juni, Mereana, Jaxon and Harry.
Mrs Broad introduces them to the school.

Mrs Broad is so proud of Room 8 and her MC's as they finish off and thank everyone for coming.
Great job team!!!

Maths with Mrs Arthur

We have been learning about Geometry and shapes with Mrs Arthur.
We found out that shapes are everywhere, all around us and in every part of our lives! We finished off our study by learning about an artist called Piet Mondrian. He created art pieces based on squares and rectangles. He used 3 primary colours in his pieces. We created our own Mondrian Art Masterpieces! We think they look amazing!!

Harry & Jaxon count and colour their shape activity.

This group work hard at their task.

Nathan copies his shape pattern on the mini whiteboard.

Mrs Arthur helps Mahanga.

Alice shows us her shape picture.

Rori works on his pattern.

Nathan finishes his matching puzzle.

The Zane and Degge Juggling Workshop and Show -

Tuesday 17th November 2015

Today we had a team of jugglers and a circus performer visit our school. Zane and Degge were grand finalists in New Zealand's got Talent a couple of years ago. They tour schools taking juggling workshops and performing their highly entertaining show.

A couple of weeks ago, we made juggling balls using rice and balloons. Check out the link to the You Tube clip with instructions on how to make them... How to make our own Juggling Balls.

Here we are all ready to learn some tricks.

Zane, Degge and Imogen teach us how to hold out juggling balls.

We balance them on our fingers.

Mia and Josephine have a go.

Brooklyn concentrates hard.

Now we balance them on our shoulders.

and our necks...

and on our toes!!!

Bramm and Rori pass them to each other.

We throw them up in the air and catch!

Imogen performs a trick during the show.

Zane & Degge show us how they ride a unicycle and juggle at the same time!!!

It was very tricky climbing up on to them.
